Anniversary Blanket
So one of my best friends celebrated her wedding anniversary the other day. I wanted to make something special that she and her husband could cherish and use for a long time. The thought came to me that I could make an embroidered blanket!
The overachiever in me said this could not be just any blanket, but an image of the two of them together. I found a picture they posted online (because who posts pictures they hate… right?!).

Used the actual photo to create a quick sketch…
I used this picture to create a quick sketch and then I got digitizing. It took a little while to work it all out, but I managed to get the file completed. I had a few minky blankets that I purchased for quick gifts and grabbed a gray one.
I decided on the embroidery location and got to work. It took me about TWO HOURS on my single needle machine to stitch this image, but the result was much better than I expected!
At first glance, the image is amazing, but the perfectionist in me sees the pulling where there wasn’t enough overlapping in the design. The next time I create a file, I know to focus on overlapping in the areas where pulling will occur.
Just another lesson learned. On to the next design!
